Karen Roberts

November 16, 1971 — April 16, 2021

Karen Michelle Roberts, 49, of Catonsville, Maryland, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 surrounded by her mother, father, and sister. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the loving daughter of Stephen Roberts and Barbara Slusher Roberts. Karen is survived by her mother, Barbara; father Stephen and fiancée Kay Fennell; sister and brother-in-law Deb and Mark Neebe; loving nieces, Lauren and Kathryn Neebe; uncles Bob Roberts and Doug Slusher and aunts Diana Roberts and Darlene Slusher; numerous cousins; a great number of close friends at Southwest Airlines; and her beloved constant companion pets Cosmo and Smoke. She is preceded in death by her step-father Phil Carter; best friend, Christine Remmo; and cherished pets Mandie Anne and Elmo.

The world lost an amazing woman. Karen was a mentor, friend, sister, daughter, aunt.  She was a boost of confidence to all and always had a good hug to so many at Southwest Airlines, where she was deeply committed to the LUV for 26 years as a Senior Instructor for Field Training at Southwest Airlines University.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She adored her two nieces. They were hers to entertain, to instruct, to mold into fine young women. If you were lucky enough to work with her at Southwest Airlines, or a were a passenger passing through the airport that needed assistance, you probably had that very same experience. Karen wanted nothing more for everyone around her to have a wonderful life. That wonderful life included creatures from both the canine and feline persuasion. She enjoyed her garden full of flowers and loved to sit outside admiring her hard work with an adult beverage. She loved sea turtles and was always excited on her early morning walks on the beaches of Sanibel to find the tracks of sea turtles who made their way up the beach to lay their eggs. Watching the storms roll in over the sound and watching sunsets from the deck during our yearly vacation on Hatteras Island will never be the same. Her sister, Deb, was her travel buddy.  They went on adventures throughout the country for beaches, Buffett, baseball, and football.  Deb and Karen took many trips to Florida and the Caribbean to explore uncharted beaches for their shared pursuit of the perfect shell.

Remembrances can be given to her favorite non-profits for Dogs ( www.tails-of-hope.org ), Cats ( www.baltimorecats.org ) or The Ronald McDonald House ( https://rmhcmaryland.org ).  See Karen's Caring Bridge site for more details. A Celebration of her life will be scheduled later this summer when we can all safely gather. To say she touched the lives and hearts of many would be an extreme understatement. We will always cherish our memories together and never forget her.
