Memorial Prayer Service by Deacon Bill Jauquet

My mother, Betty Armstrong, grew up in Washington, DC in the 1930s. She was one of 6 children, and had 4 sisters and 1 brother. Her only surviving sibling is her older sister, Virginia, who just turned 92 a few months ago. She lives in North Carolina with her daughter.
Mom would have been 91 yrs. old on October 1st. She raised 6 children, 3 girls and 3 boys, Carolyn Bolen, Roger Armstrong, Wesley Armstrong (deceased), Amy McCaig, Donna Debaugh and Dale Armstrong with my father of 20 years. They split up and mom struggled but managed to take care of the 3 youngest children, Amy, me and Dale, who were still at home.
She had a wonderful personality and a beautiful smile. She was kind and caring and was always checking on our well-being. Mom had a strong work ethic. She worked in a private nursing home for many years. She seemed to enjoy her job and liked her employer a lot.
Unfortunately, mom has out lived most of her friends. Her best friend was Annabelle Royston, Mom had introduced her to her brother, Sonny and they were married. She had known her for about 70 years and Jim Ross, who shes known for about 40 years. Both are still living and both are 87 yrs. old. Mom and Jim use to go out to dinner almost every week. They both enjoyed going to Costcos. Jim would buy mom her favorite cookies there for Christmas.
Mom and I would go to lots of yard sales and flea markets; it was one of our favorite things to do on Saturdays. Her favorite songs were: This Little Light of Mine and The Old Rugged Cross. I will love and miss her so much! She was like my best friend and was a big part of my life.
