Terry Walger

Terry Dettor Walger, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and her longtime aide, Norma Williams, on June 16, 2026. Born in Baltimore, MD she was the daughter of Dorothy Seeger Dettor and Meredith Dettor Sr.

Terry married Louis (Bud) M Walger III in 1968 and became a stepmother to four daughters. Bud’s adventurous streak took them all around the country in various boats, planes, helicopters and eventually a motor home. They also loved to travel worldwide. Terry was always on board, a true First Mate!

In 1974, Terry and Bud moved to Amelia Island, FL. where Terry became involved with the Fairway Oaks Association, the Federation of Republican Women, LINKS, and the Women’s Club of Fernandina Beach.

Terry was predeceased by her loving husband, Bud; her brother Meredith (Jerry) Dettor Jr. and sister-in-law Louise (White) Dettor. She is survived by her four step-daughters, Denise McCafferty of Sparks, MD and Amelia Island, FL; Jennifer Ertel (Bill) of Towson, MD; Christine Walger Poulsen (Jacob) of Amelia Island, FL; Meredith Coughlin (Ed) of Destin, FL, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A visitation with family and friends was held at The Oxley-Heard Funeral Home, Fernandina Beach, FL. She will be laid to rest beside her husband and parents at the Lorraine Park Mausoleum in Baltimore, MD.
