Terry Brooks

Terry Michael Brooks went to be with Jesus February 5, 2022 peacefully, with family by his side.  His physical birth occurred December 8, 1956 at Bon Secours Hospital in Baltimore to the late Nancy Brooks (nee Moore) and Frederick R. Brooks, Sr.

Terry graduated from Howard High School, Class of 1975. He was an outstanding baseball player, who mastered the knuckleball pitching, as well as being a skilled hitter. He went on to Miami Dade Community College where he was extended an offer to try out for the Yankees. Obstacles arose and he was unable to attend it.

He married Lois Rice on September 21, 1981 after many walks on the beach finding starfish and talks about faith near where Lois attended college. They celebrated 40 years of marriage in September.

Terry loved to spend time with God in his gardens, while fishing and listening to the National Christian Choir. He loved and attended Crosslife Community Church where he enjoyed encouraging others and being encouraged in their faith.  He loved his children, Nathan and Helen and spent many hours with them, fishing, sleigh riding, coaching soccer, baseball and cheering them on in their sports and academic endeavors and more. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, Ezekiel, 6 and Benny 2.  His loving imprint on them will live on.

Terry was predeceased by his beloved mother Nancy, and brother Joseph. Surviving in addition to his father Frederick R. Brooks, Sr., and  wife, Lois are his son, Nathan Brooks and his wife, Melissa, his grandson Benjamin and his daughter Helen and his grandson Ezekiel.  He also is survived by his sister Kathy and her husband, Courtney, brother Rick and his wife Shawn, brother Gary and his wife Lynne, sister Anne and her husband Brian, and brother Frederick Jr, brother John and wife Stacy, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held at 10 am on March 26 at Ambrose Funeral Home 1328 Sulphur Spring Rd. Arbutus, MD 21227. A service will follow at 11 am.
