Steven Michael Schurman, 45, passed away February 6, 2018. Born on November 30, 1972 in Washington, DC, his parents are Harriet Schurman and the late Donald G. Schurman.
He grew up in Silver Spring, Md. A graduate of Paint Branch High School, he was in the initial Community Year program launched by Montgomery County Executive Gilchrist. He attended Johnson and Wales University and Montgomery Community College. Steve worked at Montgomery Mutual Insurance Company and USATODAY. For the last 16 years he has worked at Kaiser Permanente in various aspects of medical records.
An avid Miami Dolphins fan, he never gave up on them. His favorite NASCAR driver was Rusty Wallace. An early fan of Kiss he was always at the front of the line for new releases and being part of their concerts. If you wanted to know anything about the latest horror movie, Steve was your man. You could often see him on weekends at the local bowling alleys, especially with the Glen Mar UMC Bowling League. Most recently, he was so proud of learning handyman skills at his new house. Steve was a friend to all. His kindness and gentle heart made him open to all.
He is survived by his mother, Harriet Schurman; step-father, Harold Hill; sister, Susan Schurman-Krol and brother-in-law Kurt Krol. Also surviving are his Aunt Lois Schurman Donaldson (Bob), Aunt Virginia Schurman, and cousins, Jean Flutka (Jim) and Joanna Donaldson.
