Stephen Leo Agnes, 79, passed away peacefully September 28, 2021 at home in Baltimore, MD surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Stephen leaves behind his wife, Kathleen Agnes; his children, Gregory Agnes (Susan), Matthew Agnes (Jill), Douglas Agnes (Darla), Mark Agnes (Jen), Karen Agnes, Stacy Edwards, Christopher Edwards (Alycia); fifteen amazing grandchildren; his sisters Susan Lohr, and Patricia Schorr; and many beloved nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Stephen is preceded in death by his first wife Janet Agnes, parents Stephen JC Agnes and Lillian Kerr Agnes of Parkville, MD, and sister Dona Dancen.
Born in Baltimore, MD, Stephen attended Parkville Sr High (1960) and Loyola College (1964) and served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army Signal Corp in Vietnam (1964-1966) and the US Army ASA Reserves (1966-1969). His sense of duty and honor carried into his later years, always stepping in to assist community and strangers alike.
He married his first wife Janet Agnes, and raised his first 5 children in Randallstown, MD until her passing. He was an active leader in Randallstown Community Youth Organizations in the 1970’s and 80’s, including Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 970, Liberty Road Baseball, Randallstown Optimists, and Holy Family Church. He was always involved in the local community, whether it was raising money for the RHS Touchdown Club with chili sales at football games, donating his time as an unofficial team photographer for the Randallstown wrestling, football, and lacrosse teams, or packing the church’s classroom full of teens for Sunday night youth ministry.
In midlife, Stephen found himself boot, scoot, and boogie’ing across the dancefloor where he met his wife Kathy. Together they spent many years dancing the night away, travelling the globe, and welcoming new grandchildren into the world. On any given day Stephen could also be found tending to his flowers and garden, or feeding and holding long dialogs with the neighborhood birds and squirrels.
