Sandra L. Smith

Sandra Smith, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on June 23, 2026. She was born on June 20, 1946 to the late Melvin Walter, Jr. and Judy Jones-Sarvis. Sandra is the beloved mother of Sheila (Patrick) Goralski, Tina (Steve) Schillinberg, Lisa (the late Joe) Kaufman; loving Mom Mom of Brandi, Brittani, Lindsay, Stephen, Patrick, Jr. and great granddaughters Elliott, Kali, Samantha, and Luna; dear sister of Melvin Walter, III, Margaret Walter, Pamela Sarvis, David Sarvis, and Ann Walter and preceded in death by siblings Sherry Sarvis, Dolores Sarvis, Carson Walter, and her grandmother Margaret Walter whom she loved liked a mother; also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.

Sandra was very proud to be the first female captain for JPRU Division of Corrections for the State of Maryland. She loved spending time with her family and will be deeply missed by all.

A viewing will be held at Ambrose Funeral Home in Arbutus on Sunday from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10am followed by burial at Glen Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Sandra’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
