It is with great sadness, and even greater memories of a long, wonderful life, that the family of Rose Marie Garvey announce her passing.
Rose Marie Garvey (nee Cavey), age 90, was called home peacefully on May 2, 2026, at Brightview Rolling Hills assisted living in Catonsville, MD. Rose was born on February 1, 1936 to Upton Sylvester Cavey and Clara Lee Cavey (nee Baer), in Oella, MD. She lived there until her marriage to the love of her life, Leo Joseph Garvey in 1957, who predeceased her. Rose was the beloved mother of five children, and is survived by her daughter, Ann Garvey; son, Kevin Garvey and wife, Lisa; son, Shawn Garvey; son, Patrick Garvey and wife, Dawn; and son, Timothy Garvey and wife, Melinda. She was the grandmother of Julianna, Patrick, Jr., Jenna, Caitlin, Killian, and Kasey, the great-grandmother of Adam, and step-great grandson, Jake. Rose is also survived by her brother-in-law Thomas Garvey, her nieces, nephews, and very many loving friends.
Rose was a textbook definition of an excellent woman. She was loving, strong, beautiful, righteous, generous, hardworking, intelligent, compassionate, creative, dependable, trusted, genuinely kind, loved to laugh, positive minded, patriotic, fair, stubborn when she felt that she was correct, supportive, strong in her faith, trustworthy, sociable, proud, and loved singing in her choir. Rose was happiest, as her beautiful blue eyes twinkled, in the presence of her husband and family, as they were growing up before her. She loved animals, especially her beloved German Shepherd, "Hope." Rose loved gardening, floral design, cooking and baking, sports, golf which she enjoyed for many years, and enjoyed watching the Orioles. She spent many hours sitting on the patio with her beautiful garden, watching the animals frolic at the home that she loved dearly. Rose was very actively devoted to her church community, with a deep love for the Blessed Mother.
Rose lived a very long, healthy, loving, and wonderful life. She followed through on her words, thoughts, and actions. She was passionate and proud of her family and cherished traditions.
Rose delighted in the warmth of family, friends, laughter, and memories. She will be loved into eternity by her family, and multitude of friends who love her. Each day her physical absence will be missed dearly, until we reunite. There is no greater testament to her life than the love and gratitude of those who were blessed to know her.
