Robert B. Sanders

September 30, 1946 — August 2, 2025

On Saturday, 02 August 2025, Robert Bruce Sanders passed away at home surrounded by family after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Robert, a lifetime resident of Arbutus and Relay, was the beloved husband of Cinda L. (Price) for 57 years. He is the devoted father to Tracey L. Laber and her husband Paul J., Alice E. Smitley and her husband James W. Sr., and their beloved dog Daisy. Robert was also a cherished grandfather to his step-grandson James W. Smitley, Jr. Robert is survived by his siblings Harry E. Sanders and his wife E. Lyn (Ferguson), Sandra L. (Sanders) Godman and her husband the late Edward A., Wayne R. Sanders and his wife Lorie A. (Maith), and brother-in-law Greg H. Price and his wife April E. (Capek). Adored uncle to James, Todd, Donald, David, Jane, Jennifer, Zachary, Cole, and Savannah, as well as their spouses and children. He is also survived by many treasured cousins, friends, and neighbors.

Robert was born in 1946 to Harry E. and Jane L. (Roth) Sanders and graduated from Woodlawn High School. Robert joined the Maryland Air National Guard, and after marrying Cinda, the couple relocated to Clovis, New Mexico, to serve at the Cannon Air Force Base. After returning to Maryland, they resided in Arbutus and welcomed two daughters. Robert began working as a lineman with Baltimore Gas and Electric in 1972, retiring in 2009 after 37 years of service.

Robert enjoyed being outside, anything involving trains, coin collecting, and planning unforgettable parties. He planned gatherings months in advance to ensure that his guests had a good time. He enjoyed building models and began a hobby of creating scale models of buildings in and around Baltimore, which resulted in a tiny city in their basement.

Robert enjoyed vacations with his family to Florida, where he visited his in-laws, the late Richard L. Price and Betty J. (Reel), at Daytona Beach, as well as several trips to Walt Disney World in Orlando and Key West with his brothers and their spouses. He lately found the pleasure and tranquility of cruising with his family. Enjoying the sea air and the stunning Caribbean Sea.

Robert never met someone he didn't like and always wished the best for them. No matter who he met, he made them feel like they were the most important person in the room. He adored his BGE "men's club" and the various breakfast and lunch outings they would schedule.
