Born on September 3rd, 1935, in Tavanaghmore, County Mayo, Ireland. Mike was the beloved husband of Eileen for over 60 years. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, service, and quiet strength.
In addition to his loving wife Eileen, Mike is survived by sons Mike (Trisha) and Barry (Sarah); grandchildren Shannon (Andrew), Erin Rae, Blake, and Caroline; great-grandchildren Connor and Aidan; sister Mary Ellen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by multiple siblings.
Mike immigrated to the U.S. in 1955 and remained grateful for the opportunity to serve his adopted country. He became a naturalized U.S. citizen while in the U.S. Army. Arriving with an elementary school education, he earned an associate’s degree with honors from the Community College of Baltimore City, an achievement he was proud to have worked for.
After meeting at The Emerald Isle Club in Baltimore, Mike and Eileen married and settled in Brooklyn, MD. Devout Catholics throughout their marriage, they were active members of St. Rose of Lima and Our Lady of Lourdes churches. As Eucharistic Ministers and volunteers, they found fulfillment in the life of the Church.
Beginning as an assistant pressman with the Solo Cup Company, Mike worked his way up to become the Baltimore plant manager. He was known for his work ethic, fairness, and steady leadership.
Retiring in Seaford, DE, he found peace and enjoyment in doing projects around the house, rowing his boat on the pond, serving his church, and spending time with family.
