Mark Tussing

September 23, 1958 — April 26, 2025

Mark Anthony Tussing, age 66, of Baltimore, MD, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. Born on September 23, 1958, in Baltimore, Mark was the son of the late Bernice Machovec (nee Brown) and Elzy Tussing. He married Karon on December 24, 1986, and together they raised two children: Melissa and Michael. He was a man’s man who worked with his hands every day and respected hard work. Before retiring, Mark was the Director for Property Maintenance at Atlantic Realty Group after moving to Maryland from Florida to live closer to his children and grandchildren.

As an avid outdoors enthusiast, Mark could be found hunting, fishing, and camping eagerly sharing his passions with his children, grandchildren, and friends to create lasting memories. His happiness was family and friends gathered together, sharing stories and food. Mark always cooked for an army ensuring no one would ever leave hungry or without extra food to take home. His crab balls and smile were legendary. Taking care of others and living life to its fullest were his legacy.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Karon; children, Melissa Sonner and Michael Straughan, son in law John Sonner Jr., and eleven grandchildren, Mark, John, Michael, Anthony, Jackson, Stella, Autumn, Kimberly, Theodore, Jacob, and Christopher. Caring friend Elizabeth Owen, many loving cousins including: Christine and Michael Cooley, Albert Brown, Ruth Suetter, Lisa Suraco, Rozeann Russo, Amanda Russo, Kenny English, nephews: Charles Tussing Jr., Nicholas Tussing, Christopher Ogden, and Patrick Bullock, and nieces: Brandi Fader and Sara Tussing, Aunt: Ella English, and many, many more family and friends remain to carry on Mark’s tell us like it is attitude and do what needs to be done grit. Special thanks to Gladys Ward who became a partner in crime for Mark to continue living life on his terms. The love that surrounds Mark through his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends is what truly makes a life.

A celebration of life is currently being planned, details will be shared in the near future.

“God, how I hate solemn funerals. When I die, take me into a room and burn me. Then my family and a few good friends should get together, have a few good belts, and talk about the crazy old time we all had together.”

- John Wayne
