Listen to Obituary

On October 15, 2025 at 4:55 PM Mark Hendricks took his last, gentle breath surrounded with and by the love of his wife and three sons. He left selflessly as he lived, giving us a beautiful end after battling the horrific disease of Merkel cell carcinoma these past seven months. But his life will never be defined, not even a little bit, by that horrible disease.

Though he deserved a better ending, and more time to be with his precious two grandchildren, he lived a life full of love, generosity, music, fun, mentorship, and stoic ethics. He was and always will be the most fine example of what a man should be.

Mark was born between Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, Florida on March 14, 1955.

There are many superlatives that can describe Mark: father, husband, grandfather, hero, beacon, tough, mustache’d (prior to 2010), builder, designer, strong, surrogate dad, best friend (to some he didn’t even know for more than just a few days!), loyal, sarcastic, private, weightlifter, black belt, badass, and all around amazing human.

He spent the majority of his working years as a well sought after carpenter, builder, designer, and project manager. Mark knew his stuff and his honesty and fairness won the hearts of so many clients and customers and those he mentored in the field.

Mark was also an excellent guitar player, having played in many bands during his youth, and even opened for Bob Seger in the 1970s. He played by ear and learned his chops and licks from the southern rock bands of its heyday (The Outlaws, The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd). He could shred strings and play lead solos with the best.

Above all Mark was a family man. He did not have a happy childhood, escaping that home at only 15 years old. But he chose a different path and was a rockstar of a Dad to his three sons. Mark did everything for his family: constructing a huge tree house, building wonderful additions to the family home, taking his sons to many, and I mean many, concerts and professional wrestling events, leading the most fun family vacations and holidays, training Henry the beagle, and so much more. Much, much more. Seven and a half years ago he became the best Pop ever to his two adoring grandchildren who became the light of his life. Where love was missing in his formative years was made up by and more so through the family he created.

Surviving this mountain of a man is his wife of 47 years, Angela. Having met her after making his way to Baltimore while working on the B&O railroad and stopping in Bass’ Bar and Tavern in Southwest Baltimore. Jim, Angie’s father and Mark’s eventual father-in-law, joked that he chose Mark first, and thus began their fairy tale of a relationship and marriage; his three sons who all agree he is the best father: Mark and his wife Carolina, Brad and his wife Kelsey, and Chet and his partner Kaitlyn; his two grandchildren, Liliana and Adrian; his dear friend Victor Cristofaro and his family (Victoria, Fabiana, and Carlos); and so many that looked to him as their surrogate father and best friend.

In lieu of flowers Mark would want you to be happy, try harder, love more, listen to better music, not to brag about yourself and to just do it because its right, and live for more than yourself. If inclined donations in his name may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
