Levern C. Schmincke

Levern Carolyn Schmincke – 10/20/1932 to 01/02/2026 (93 Years)

A 68 year resident of Arbutus passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Friday, January 2nd, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Schmincke III, her son, Clifford Schmincke, her mother Christine Gillis (nee Buckel), her father Lionel Gillis, and her brother Richard Gillis.

She is survived by her son, David Schmincke and wife Pat Schmincke and her grand-daughter Kayla Horn and husband Josh, of Pasadena. She is also survived by her nephew Rodney Gillis and wife Wendy, niece Anna Kroschinsky and husband John, and cousins Ronnie Wolf and Neil Beefelt.

She is also survived by her extended family who adopted her as their own; Elaine Swick, Christine Coates (her 2nd favorite daughter-in-law), David Swick and their countless children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her cherished St. Agnes sisters in Nursing and loving neighborhood friends.

A dedicated nurse of almost forty years, Levern retired from St. Agnes to care for her Husband, Henry during his declining health.

For all those who knew and loved her, her sense of humor and instant ability to create poetry was well known.

Her faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ carried her through all her days and gave her the comfort in knowing that her own illness was not the end of her story; only the beginning.

A funeral service will be held at Ambrose Funeral Home, 1328 Sulphur Spring Road, Arbutus, Maryland 21227 on Monday January 12th at 12pm followed by burial at Baltimore National Cemetery.
