Joan Elizabeth Brooks, 81 sadly passed away on 05/21/2022 of natural causes, surrounded by family. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Harry M. Flaherty and the late Mabel E. Flaherty (nee Peddicord) on 03/21/1941.
Joan is the beloved mother and grandmother who stepped up to raise her grandkids in such a selfless way and in her loving fashion. She found her calling, working in the healthcare field, taking care of others as a Nursing Assistant at Caton Manor, where she also cared for her mother. After 15 years of service, she retired in 2002. She was a beautiful, loving, and kind individual who never allowed life’s hardships to keep her from being positive and never giving up. She could be quite feisty at times, pretty much up until God’s calling on her to come home. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was also an avid participant in bingo; she enjoyed attending with her mother, daughter and also loved playing at the Westminster house where she resided after her retirement until her passing.
Joan met William Green Sr., the two were married in Baltimore, MD. Together they raised four beautiful children: the late Joanne E. Spanos, William E. Green Jr, the late Barbara T. Green, and the late Donna M Green.
Joan was the beloved sister of Nicholas Flaherty; loving mother of William Green Jr.; cherished grandmother to Serina Rollins, Jason Green, Richard Dimeler Jr., Regina Green, Erica Green, Antonio Green, and the late Fabian Green. She was the adored grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren as well as a great-great-grandson “Ace”. Joan is also, survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joan touched the lives of many friends and family members. Regina Richardson (life-long family friend) who called her 4 times a day every day just to hear her voice and Charles Sigafoose (Son-in-law) who was always there for her from cooking to fixing things, until his recent move to New York are just a few to note.
