Jean C. Miles

Jean C. Miles, 94, passed away on June 30, 2023 at the Charlestown Community in Catonsville. She had previously resided in Arnold, Maryland for 36 years and was a parishioner of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church. She was born to Francis and Lina Sue Perkinson in Richmond, Virginia in 1928.

In the 1950’s, she worked for Eastern Airlines. She greatly enjoyed traveling with her husband using the flight benefits of her employment. She continued to enjoy traveling throughout her life, with destinations ranging as far as Europe, the Caribbean, Alaska, and Hawaii. She was an avid bridge player and genealogist. She was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century, and the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company as well as being a member of the Mayflower Society, the Jamestowne Society, and the Huguenot Society of America. Before she moved to Charlestown, she was a volunteer at the Maryland State Law Library in Annapolis and the Prince George’s Historical Society.  Reading was another of her favorite pastimes. She also had a lifelong love of cats.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis Miles, and is survived by her son Lewis Miles Jr. and his wife Melissa, and by her daughter Alice Newman and her husband Paul.  She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Rachel, Henry, and Robert, who delighted her and whom she loved dearly. She was a loving mother and a genuinely gracious lady. She will be missed.
