On Friday, February 4, Donald Lee Disney (Don) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones, at age 79, as a result of multiple medical conditions complicated by Alzheimer’s.
Don was born on September 15, 1942 in Baltimore, MD to Russell and Hellen (nee Reed) Disney. He graduated from Catonsville High School, attended Catonsville Community College, and had a lifelong career in Warehouse & Operations Management. Don and his childhood sweetheart, Lila, were married for 59 years. He was a loving husband, father of three, and grandfather of five.
Don was a man of many talents. He was a member of the American Poolplayers Association and competed on many billiard teams. Don had a passion for cars. He enjoyed antique car shows, car restoration, and auto racing. Don was inventive and creative. His grandchildren always said, “Pop-Pop can fix anything.” He also enjoyed going to the beach and camping, especially camping trips with the Lansdowne United Methodist Church, where he was a lifelong member. Don was an avid music lover and a forever Elvis fan. He was a kind and compassionate man of integrity who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Russell, his mother, Hellen, and his brother, Richard. He was the beloved husband of Lila Disney (nee Harvey); devoted father of Stephanie Sanidas and her husband Nick; Debra Johnson, and her husband Kevin; and Dr. Jennifer Leigh Disney, and her husband Mike; loving grandfather of Chris, Lindsay, Bobby, Lukas, and Michael. Don was completely devoted to his family.
There will be no viewing or service, and entombment is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to the Lansdowne United Methodist Church, 114 Lavern Avenue, Lansdowne, MD 21227 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
