With great sadness, we announce the passing of Carolyn Joan Decker, age 80, who quietly went to be with the Lord on February 19, 2026 during her sleep following a sudden, brief illness. Carolyn was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 6, 1945 to Ruth Irene (nee Sonnenleiter) and Joseph John Wrobel. She grew up locally in Curtis Bay and Lansdowne prior to residing in Glen Burnie and Charlestown Retirement Community. Carolyn graduated high school excelling in business academia. She found her niche in Business Administration, having devoted 40 years service to the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration in Glen Burnie. She had a creative “artsy” mind and was physically active until recently. Always renowned for being on the go, she enjoyed bowling, travel, and had a penchant for bargain hunting excursions. But her true passion was dance. As each of her fellow Charlestown line dancers can attest, her boundless energy and enthusiasm was inspiring and contagious.
Carolyn is predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Joseph Wrobel, loving daughter Catherine Ann Holden and son William Blair Decker, IV (Bo). She is survived by one son, John Christopher Decker, two beloved sisters, Dianne Wrobel and Jan Brice (Dale), several grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, each of whom cherished her kindness, love, and devotion and will dearly miss her presence.
A Memorial Service will be held in Carolyn’s honor on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church at Charlestown Retirement Community, 711 Maiden Choice Ln., Catonsville, MD 21228. Greeting at 10am followed by Mass at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charlestown Benevolent Care Fund. Checks should be addressed to 719 Maiden Choice Ln., Baltimore, Maryland 21228. Attn: Philanthropy. – Please write in the memo line: “In memory of Carolyn Decker”.
