Anjali Ray (née Bose), age 90, of Halethorpe MD, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025. She was born in Calcutta, India, to the late Mohini and Malaya Bose, and was one of eight siblings. She emigrated to the US in 1963 after marrying Dr. Satyabrata Ray. Anjali lived a long and full life marked by family and faith. She was the loving and devoted mother of Shimanti Ray Ghosh, beloved grandmother of Ahiri Ray Ghosh and Sohini Ray Ghosh, and is also survived by other loving relatives including her son-in-law, Richik Niloy Ghosh, her elder sister Dipa Raha, and her many nieces and nephews and their families. Throughout her life, she devoted herself to caring for and improving the well-being of her family members in the US and in India. Anjali received her Master’s Degree in Botany from Calcutta University, and for many years did laboratory research at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). She also pursued other interests including running a day care, making plants thrive with her amazing green thumb, and was an expert in making Bengali sweets and appetizers to support her local Bengali community’s cultural activities. Anjali was deeply rooted in her faith. She was a lifelong devotee of Adyapeath Mandir, an organization dedicated to the service of humanity and worship of the Divine Mother “Adya Maa”, whose teachings guided her days to the very last.
