Barbara Ann Scheffel

September 9, 1941 ~ January 11, 2019 (age 77)

Barbara Ann Scheffel, age 77, went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2019.  Barbara was born on September 9, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Gertrude Scheffel (nee Griffith) and Carl Scheffel.  She graduated from St. Ann's Business School in Baltimore in 1957 and at the age of 16 began working as a full time secretary at Westinghouse. She later began an evening educational journey in which she earned an AA degree from The Anne Arundel Community College and then a Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, University College.  She retired from Westinghouse after holding many positions including facilities manager and manager of total quality control in Linthicum, MD.  After retirement, Barbara worked at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Glen Burnie, MD, where she made many new friends and loved being a part of the church community.  
Barbara had a love for music and dancing.  She was a talented organist and accordion player.  Her other hobbies included tennis, raising african violets, and building and decorating dollhouses.  She was a long-time member of St. Clements Church in Lansdowne and previously served as a member of the finance board.  
Barbara is survived by her sister, Carolyn Bisser, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.  
Family and friends will honor Barbara's life at the family owned and operated Ambrose Funeral Home of Lansdowne with a public viewing on Tuesday, 1/15/19 from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Clements Catholic Church on Wednesday, 1/16/19 beginning at 10 AM.  Interment to follow in Meadowridge Memorial Park.
